Fourth-generation family farm offering raw milk, grass-fed beef, Berkshire pork, free-range lamb, and cage-free eggs.
Windsweep Farm is a diversified, multi-generational family farm in northwestern Illinois, owned and operated by the Sheaffer family for 70 years. The fourth generation now carries on its tradition of animal husbandry. The farm raises grass-fed beef, Berkshire pork, free-range lamb, cage-free chickens, and dairy cattle, producing raw milk and cream from Brown Swiss and Guernsey cows born on the property. Milk and cream are available for pickup at the farm or through the Quad City milk co-op. The farm is substantially self-sustaining, growing its own hay, soybeans, corn, and pasture on-site. Learn more on their About Page.
All livestock at Windsweep Farm are pasture-raised and non-confined. Animals are raised without hormones, and antibiotics are used only when needed for recovery from injury or illness. Feed for the animals is homegrown and harvested on the farm, supplemented only with vitamins, minerals, and protein needed for a balanced diet. All animal diets are 100% vegetarian. The dairy herd consists of Brown Swiss and Guernsey cows, all born on the farm. Brown Swiss are noted for producing milk with high cheese yields.
