Fourth-generation family farm offering 100% grass-fed, grass-finished beef shares and pasture-raised pork.
Brass Family Farm has been in the Brass family for over 100 years, with Stephen Brass (fourth generation) managing the herd and day-to-day operations. The farm specializes in 100% grass-fed and grass-finished beef, available as quarter, half, or whole beef shares, as well as smaller beef boxes available for farm pickup. The herd is built on a foundation of Red Devon genetics, a heritage breed known for its adaptability, fertility, and marbling. Brass Family Farm also raises pasture-raised pork seasonally, available by the half or whole hog. The farm operates under a transparency policy and welcomes visitors to see its practices firsthand.
Brass Family Farm's cattle live their entire lives on pasture and receive no grain, no GMOs, no hormones or steroids, and no drugs or antibiotics as a matter of practice. The farm uses portable electric fencing to move cattle to fresh areas of pasture on a rotating basis, allowing previously grazed areas time to recover. During winter, cattle are fed grass and alfalfa hay on pasture. Pastures are planted with a diverse mix of grasses and forbs to support a naturally balanced diet. Cattle also have free access to a cafeteria-style supplement feeder stocked with 16 vitamins and minerals, including kelp, sea salt, selenium, and vitamins A, D, and E, and raw apple cider vinegar is added to their drinking water. The farm continuously monitors soil fertility and grass nutrition, treating soil health as foundational to beef quality. Low-stress animal handling techniques are used throughout.
