Krogman Homegrown Meats is a family-run farm and butcher business operated by Chad and Julia Krogman, who have been raising beef for over thirteen years and established their current farmstead in 2015. The business sells dry-aged Angus beef, Duroc-cross pork, pastured poultry, and pet treats, along with locally sourced goods including honey, maple syrup, baked goods, and ice cream. Cuts are available individually, in bundles, or through cow and hog share reservations. Customers can order online for shipping or pick up directly at the farm store. Krogman Homegrown Meats also welcomes farm tours for those who want to learn more about where their food comes from. Learn more on their About Page.
Krogman Homegrown Meats sources all its Angus cattle from two farms in northwest Illinois, keeping the supply chain local and 100% American. Cattle are grass-fed throughout their lives and finished on locally grown corn to develop marbling and flavor. All cattle are harvested no older than 18 months of age. Every beef carcass is dry-aged as a whole for a minimum of 14 days before being cut, meaning every cut from steaks to ground beef goes through the aging process. Both beef and pork are hand-cut one animal at a time at a local butcher shop. The pork is a Duroc and Large White cross breed, raised in facilities the business describes as using technology to monitor animal well-being and minimize environmental impact.
