Apiary
Closed
Small-batch honey and pollination services from a family-rooted apiary in Northwest Illinois.
HoneyGirl Honey opened in January 2009 in Fulton, Illinois, along the Mississippi River in Northwest Illinois. Owner Abby Koch-Huizenga learned beekeeping from her father, Steve Koch, who began keeping bees in 1972 and ran his own operation, The Bee Plantation, in Tama County, Iowa. From a young age, Abby helped in the honey house and in the bee yards, learning to identify brood, honey, and pollen in the comb and to spot queens, workers, and drones. What started with five hives of her own grew to over 100 hives in and around Whiteside County, Illinois. The apiary offers local honey for purchase and beekeeping services, including pollination.
