Willimantic Food Co-op is a member-owned and operated grocery store that has served its shoppers since 1980, tracing its roots to the Willimantic Buyers Club of the early 1970s. It carries a full line of grocery items including produce, cheese, juices, grains, spices, vitamins, dairy products, homeopathic remedies, and paper goods. The store is open to members and non-members alike and accepts SNAP benefits alongside credit and debit cards. Shoppers can also place orders through the co-op's online WebCart. The co-op is guided by the seven Rochdale Co-operative Principles, which include democratic member control, member economic participation, and autonomy and independence.
