Small family farm offering no-spray fruits, vegetables, and 100% grass-fed halal beef.
Shundahai Farm is a 5-acre family farm in Mansfield, Connecticut, established in 2009 by Raluca Mocanu and Ed Wazer. The farm grows a wide range of garden vegetables as well as fruits including peaches, apples, and European and Asian pears. It also raises 100% grass-fed halal beef, sold by the piece during farm sales. Shundahai Farm products can be found at its on-farm stand, and its vegetables are also carried by select restaurants and a food cooperative in the region. The farm's name comes from the Shoshone word meaning "Peace and harmony with all creation," reflecting the spirit behind its approach to farming.
Shundahai Farm does not spray pesticides, herbicides, or any other chemicals on its land or crops. The farm focuses on building healthy soils as the foundation for healthy plants and animals. Its beef is raised 100% grass-fed from birth and is halal. The farm describes its no-spray approach as distinct from both conventional and certified organic farming methods.
