Walston Ranch is a family-owned and operated ranch in the Texas Hill Country, run by a sixth-generation ranching family with roots going back to 1889. The ranch has operated in its current form since 1985. Its core programs include a cow/calf cattle operation, a quarter horse program, and the Mill Creek Beef pasture-to-plate label, established in 2017. The ranch also offers hunting access, with white-tailed deer, Rio Grande turkey, white-wing dove, and feral hogs on the property. In addition, Walston Ranch provides consulting and ranch management services drawing on over 32 years of experience in natural resource, range, and livestock management.
Walston Ranch raises cattle through a pasture-to-plate model under its Mill Creek Beef program, with the goal of producing beef direct from its own herd to the consumer. Ranch management places a strong emphasis on native range health and wildlife habitat, with individualized land management plans that incorporate livestock management, brush control, and pond management. The consulting side of the operation applies these same range and resource principles for outside landowners across the Edwards Plateau region.
