Overview

A family-run urban farm in Pasadena offering a produce farm box, seasonal workshops, and homesteading education since 1985.

Urban Homestead is a family-run farm that began on a 1/10-acre residential lot in Pasadena in 1985, pioneering a model of urban self-sufficiency and food production. The Dervaes family, now led by siblings Anaïs, Jordanne, and Justin, operates the farm and runs the Urban Homestead Institute, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. The farm offers a CSA-style farm box program, delivering boxes of vegetables, fruits, and herbs to roughly 150-200 families. Beyond produce, it hosts monthly tours, skill-share workshops, an internship program, and educational visits for schools and scout groups. The farm box program feeds families and any unclaimed boxes are donated. Learn more on their About Page.
