Overview

Veganic urban farm growing microgreens, sprouts, greens, herbs, and seasonal fruit for the farmers market.

Huarache Farms is a veganic urban farm in Sierra Madre, founded by Michael Wood with a mission to support local and sustainable urban agriculture. The farm grows microgreens, sprouts, leafy greens, herbs, and seasonal fruit on a backyard scale across two farm sites. Produce is sold at the Atwater Village Farmers Market every Sunday. The farm operates as a collective of city dwellers who share an interest in small-scale gardening, cooking, and running, drawing inspiration from the Tarahumara people of Chihuahua, Mexico. Huarache Farms has also built and managed a custom online CSA platform supporting multiple local food makers and backyard farms in Los Angeles, though its current retail outlet is the weekly farmers market.
