Los Angeles grain mill shop and school for organic flour, whole grains, and bread-making classes
The King's Roost is a Los Angeles storefront and teaching space focused on organic flours, whole grains, grain mills, and homesteading skills. Founded by Roe Sie, it grew from a 400-square-foot shop near King Middle School into a 2,000-square-foot Glassell Park warehouse. The shop carries what it describes as the largest selection of Central Milling organic flours in the United States, sold in quantities starting at five pounds. In addition to flour and grains, it stocks grain mills, baking tools, and handmade soaps and candles. The King's Roost also hosts in-person classes on sourdough bread, chicken keeping, soap making, kombucha, pickling, and more, as well as an online sourdough course available anywhere. Learn more on their About Page.
The King's Roost sources its flours and grains from Central Milling, and its inventory focuses on organic varieties. Its signature in-person sourdough bread-making class uses 100% freshly milled grains. The shop also carries grain mills so customers can mill flour at home. Founder Roe Sie makes the handmade soaps and candles sold in the shop and occasionally teaches those production methods as classes.
