Sustainable small farm offering CSA shares, eggs, poultry, produce, sourdough, flowers, and a farm stand.
The ReFarmery is a small sustainable farm in Sacramento County growing fruit, vegetables, herbs, flowers, and sourdough bread, and raising eggs and poultry including chicken, turkey, and goose. The farm began reclaiming a neglected, topsoil-depleted plot of land in 2009 and has since built it into a productive growing operation. Products reach customers through a weekly CSA membership program, local farmers markets, a roadside farm stand, and an online store. The farm also runs a nursery. CSA members receive customizable weekly shares, a discount in the online store, and free access to farm tours and events. Shares are available as 7-week mini seasons or a 28-week full season. Learn more on their About Page.
The ReFarmery has replaced pesticides with natural predators and hand-cultivation, and manages weeds without herbicides by using livestock: rabbits graze on broadleaf plants and geese graze on grasses. The farm also employs sheet-mulching and occultation as non-polluting weed-control methods. Preserving biodiversity is a stated priority, and native plants are incorporated to support a healthy on-farm ecosystem. Since 2009, these practices have helped restore topsoil on land that had been degraded by years of suburban-style landscaping.
