New American restaurant set in a historic Sacramento firehouse, with menus that rotate with the local growing seasons.
Mulvaney's Building & Loan is a New American restaurant housed in a historic 1893 firehouse, with its original brick walls and soaring ceilings. Owned by Patrick and Bobbin Mulvaney, it serves lunch, dinner, bar bites, dessert, and a curated wine list, with menus that change to keep pace with the local growing seasons. Executive Chef John Trujillo balances classic technique with a produce-driven approach, letting seasonal ingredients lead. The restaurant also operates a private event space next door. Patrick Mulvaney is a nationally recognized advocate for local food systems, regenerative agriculture, and better childhood nutrition, and serves as an International Delegate for Slow Food and a founding partner of Terra Madre Americas. Learn more on their About Page.
Mulvaney's B&L builds its menus around named local growers and ranchers. Dinner dishes draw on produce from Ray Yeung, Full Belly Farms, and Soil Born Farm, fruit from Twin Peaks Orchards in Newcastle, California, and proteins from suppliers including Klingman Ranch (pork), 1855 Ranch (beef), Fogline (chicken), and Ferrari Fisheries (black cod). The restaurant dedicates a section of its website to introducing the farmers and purveyors behind its ingredients. Patrick Mulvaney describes his sourcing philosophy as focused on true sustainability that supports farming families and protects agricultural workers.
