Apiary and honey producer offering raw honey, creamed honey, beeswax candles, and beekeeping supplies.
The Holton Homestead is a family-run apiary and homestead founded in 2015 on a small acreage in Elkhart, Iowa. Tyler and Sara Holton lead the operation; Sara is a third-generation beekeeper. The apiary has grown to over 850 beehives, and the homestead holds a licensed commercial kitchen and classroom. Core products include honey varieties such as flavored creamed honey and hot honey, elderberry tonic, beeswax candles, and vintage cast iron cookware. The business also sells nucleus bee colonies and queen bees. Products are available at farmers markets across central Iowa, in retail stores statewide, through a farm store, and online with local delivery and shipping options. Learn more on their About Page.
All products are made in-house by the Holton Homestead team and are never outsourced. The operation holds a food processing plant license for producing flavored creamed honey and elderberry tonic, as well as a licensed commercial kitchen. Each season, Tyler manages hives from beekeepers across the United States during California almond pollination, a practice the homestead has participated in since 2017. The Holton Homestead also raises and sells nucleus bee colonies and queen bees as part of its broader apiary program.
