Pasture-raised chicken from a family farm in rural Iowa, sold by the cut.
Bright Eagle Farm is a three-generation, family-run operation raising pastured poultry on a farm in rural Buchanan County, Iowa. The Engelbrecht family, spanning grandparent, parents, and four daughters, manages the farm together. Chickens are available as individual frozen, vacuum-sealed cuts, including breasts, thighs, drumsticks, wings, livers, hearts, feet, soupstock, and snack sticks. Cuts are priced by the pound. Products can be ordered directly from the farm or purchased at West Forty Market in uptown Ankeny. Learn more on their About Page.
Bright Eagle Farm raises its chickens as pastured poultry. Chicks spend their first four weeks in spacious indoor brooders, then are moved to portable outdoor enclosures that are relocated to fresh ground at least once a day. On pasture, the birds forage freely for insects, grasses, and other vegetation while being protected from predators and given continuous access to feed and water. The feed is locally produced and non-GMO. No chemicals are used on the pasture. Chickens are processed, air-chilled, and packaged at a USDA-inspected facility.
