Family-run farm raising grass-fed lamb, pastured pork, pastured poultry, and pasture-raised eggs in Siskiyou County.
Skyelark Ranch is a family-run livestock farm operated by Alexis and Gillies Robertson, who have been raising animals for meat, eggs, and fiber since 2010. The ranch found its permanent home in the small town of Edgewood in Siskiyou County, which the Robertsons purchased in the fall of 2017. Their sheep flock is a mix of California Red, Dorper, and cross-bred breeds, raised entirely on pasture for grass-fed lamb and wool. The ranch also raises free-range heritage Berkshire pigs, pasture-raised laying hens, and pastured poultry including Cornish Cross chickens. Lamb, pork, and eggs are available through the ranch's online farmstand, as well as at local markets. Skyelark Ranch raises all livestock as naturally and humanely as possible. The sheep flock spends its entire life on pasture and is never fed grain, given routine antibiotics, or kept in a feedlot. Heritage Berkshire pigs are raised free-range and fed a Certified GMO-Free pelletized hog feed; sows farrow naturally in barn stalls without restraint, then return to pasture with their piglets after weaning. Laying hens spend nearly all daylight hours outside grazing and scratching, and their movable huts are rotated around the ranch to keep birds on fresh ground. Pastured poultry are raised with the same access to rotating fresh pasture and are fed a certified GMO-free pelleted feed. The ranch does not use routine antibiotics or growth hormones in any of its livestock.
