Family ranch raising pastured beef, pork, and lamb in far Northern California
Five Marys Farms is a family-run ranch in far Northern California owned and operated by Brian and Mary Heffernan. The ranch is named for the four Heffernan daughters, each named Mary after grandmothers and aunts on both sides of the family. The ranch raises Black Angus cattle, Heritage Berkshire hogs, and Navajo Churro sheep, selling beef, pork, and lamb by the individual cut or in customized subscription boxes through the Five Marys Meat Club. Beyond meat, the ranch produces beef tallow, pantry staples such as olive oil, salt, and spice blends, sheep pelts, and pet treats. Five Marys also operates a burger restaurant and whiskey bar in town and hosts guests on the ranch through Camp Five Marys. Learn more on their About Page.
Five Marys Farms raises its animals on the ranch's own pastures and hills in Northern California, describing its approach as all-natural and ranch-raised. The ranch bills itself as 'Pastured Everything.' Animals are processed one at a time using what the farm describes as old-fashioned butchery practices, and beef is extended dry-aged before packing. Processing takes place at Five Marys Custom Meat Co, a USDA-inspected facility. Meat boxes are packed with dry ice and shipped overnight. Navajo Churro sheep pelts are saved after harvest to honor the whole animal rather than sending them to landfill.
