Rusty Star Ranch

Licensed goat dairy and regenerative family farm raising Nubian goats, Dexter cattle, and heritage pork.

Rusty Star Ranch is a first-generation, woman-owned regenerative family farm and one of the few licensed goat dairies in Texas. We produce raw goat milk, goat cheese, pastured pork, and grass-fed beef, selling directly to local and regional customers. This is our full-time livelihood, not a side project. Our Dexter cattle live on pasture and are never given grain. We raise Nubian goats for milk and cheese, and heritage pigs on open pasture. Products are available through our farm store, farmers markets, and partner pick-up locations.

We rotational graze our cows, goats, and pigs through our pastures and support biodiversity by maintaining a variety of grasses, broad-leaf plants, shrubs, and wooded areas. Our cattle are completely grass-fed and finished and never receive grain. We source goat and hog grain directly from a local feed mill and buy grass hay from a nearby farmer. We use rainwater collection in our barns to water the goats and pigs, and spread compost to feed our pastures. We do not use chemical sprays or fertilizers, and we control flies with fly predators and sticky traps rather than chemicals. Extra milk, whey, and produce are fed back to the pigs.
