Rustic Bakery started in 2005 with a single sourdough flatbread cracker, first sold to Cowgirl Creamery at the San Francisco Ferry Building. What began in a small café on Magnolia Street has grown into a multi-location bakery and café business, with locations across Marin County. Its cafés serve baked goods, salads, and sandwiches, while its retail line includes organic flatbreads, flatbread bites, artisan crisps, shortbread, cheese coins, savory biscuits, and granola. Rustic Bakery has used the same sourdough starter for its flatbreads since the business began. Its bakery is located in Sonoma County, and it sources ingredients from local and organic producers in Northern California whenever possible. The business partners with what it describes as some of the best artisan producers in the region. Everything is made by hand, and the bakery takes no shortcuts in its production process.
