Certified organic vegetables, CSA farm boxes, and specialty produce from California's oldest continuously certified organic row crop farm.
Star Route Farms is a certified organic row crop farm founded by Warren and Marion Weber in 1974, beginning on five acres with horse-drawn equipment. The farm describes itself as the oldest continuously certified organic row crop farm in California. It is presently owned by the University of San Francisco and managed by Annabelle Lenderink and Nick Civetz. Star Route Farms grows scores of specialty crops, including lettuces, chicories, herbs, edible flowers, and a wide range of seasonal vegetables. Its produce reaches restaurants and farmers markets year-round, and CSA farm boxes are available for pickup at locations across the San Francisco Bay Area. Learn more on their About Page.
Star Route Farms holds certification from Marin Organic Certified Agriculture (MOCA). The farm uses natural fertilizer and cover-cropping, growing humus-building plants that are turned back into the ground to enrich soils. It grows its crops across 40 acres in Bolinas and, over the winter months, 80 acres in the Coachella Valley near Thermal, California. The farm harvests and delivers produce six days a week. It partners with the Agricultural Institute of Marin, the Center for Urban Education about Sustainable Agriculture (CUESA), and MOCA in support of sound agricultural practices.
