Heritage farm raising grass-finished beef, lamb, heritage turkeys, and eggs within a BC provincial park since 1872.
Ruckle Heritage Farm was established in 1872 by Henry Ruckle and is the oldest operating family farm in the Gulf Islands. The 202-acre farmstead sits within Ruckle Provincial Park and is operated under contract with BC Parks by Mike and Marjorie Lane, together with their daughter and son-in-law Abey and Matt Scaglione. The farm raises cattle (including highland cattle), sheep, chickens, turkeys, and goats, and tends a market garden and orchard. Meat sales include whole and half lambs, whole beef and sides of beef, individual lamb cuts, cured lamb products, ground beef, and seasonal heritage turkeys. Eggs are available year-round. The farm also offers tours, on-farm accommodations, and wedding and event hosting. Learn more on their About Page.
Ruckle Heritage Farm raises cattle, sheep, chickens, and turkeys on the historic farmstead. The farm's beef is grass-finished, and its heritage turkeys are free-range, nesting and foraging outdoors. The farm promotes nose-to-tail eating and sells whole and half animals in addition to individual cuts and cured products such as lamb salami, pepperoni, and sausage. The operation is described as committed to sustainability and to preserving the land and farming way of life for future generations, in keeping with the Ruckle family's original intention that the property remain a working farm.
