CCOF Certified Organic farm growing nutrient-dense crops in the Santa Cruz Mountains foothills
Rancho Soquel is a CCOF Certified Organic farm spanning 119 acres in the hills above Santa Cruz County. Founded by Avi Benaroya and acquired in 2017, the farm has been steadily developing its land and growing practices with a focus on nutrient-dense food and full transparency with customers. The farm has planted hundreds of fruit trees and acres of cover crops as it prepares for fuller production. Rancho Soquel currently supplies wholesale orders for restaurants and bulk buyers, and is not yet open to the public for visits. The farm's guiding mission is to grow food as close to its natural potential as possible, sharing every step of the process openly. Learn more on their About Page.
Rancho Soquel holds CCOF Organic Certification and grows with zero pesticides. Its core practices include soil remineralization, nurturing diverse soil microbe populations, and supporting pollinators and biodiversity. The farm uses heavy mulching in perennial zones to encourage stable, fungal-dominated soil and increase organic matter. Acres of cover crop have been planted to nourish the land between growing seasons. Rancho Soquel takes an observational approach to farming, monitoring subtle changes in crops and ecosystems to guide decisions. The farm uses Tend, a farm management technology, to track yield, map field layouts, and analyze each season's results.
