Registered Jacob Sheep farm raising heritage-breed sheep for breeding stock and natural wool fiber.
Patchwork Farm and Fibers is a registered Jacob Sheep farm located in the northeast Georgia mountains, run by Dave and Linda Bjarkman. The farm has raised Jacob Sheep since 1994 and has been a member of the Jacob Sheep Breeders Association (JSBA) since 1995, registered as Flock #2895. Over three decades, the Bjarkmans have sourced sheep from across the country to build a flock with broad genetic and visual diversity. The farm offers registered sheep for sale, including ewes, rams, and lambs. A store on the site offers fiber products. Patchwork Farm emphasizes the primitive, deer-like Jacob Sheep type and prioritizes hardiness, easy lambing, and strong mothering instincts in its animals.
Patchwork Farm and Fibers selects its flock with a focus on preserving the diversity of the primitive American Jacob Sheep, in line with the standards of the Jacob Sheep Breeders Association. Breeding criteria emphasize hand-spinning quality fleeces, strong and well-placed horns, and a maternal line of four strong horns on all rams used. The farm sources animals from a wide geographic range across the United States to maintain genetic breadth. Hardiness, easy lambing, and mothering skills are stated primary selection priorities. The farm is a longtime JSBA member (since 1995) and encourages engagement with that conservation-minded organization.
