Appalachian heritage farm offering grass-fed beef, heirloom garlic, and seasonal produce in the North Georgia mountains.
LoganBerry Heritage Farm is a 60-acre heritage farm situated in the mountains of North Georgia, stewarded by Sharon Turner Mauney, a fifth-generation descendant of the family that has farmed the land since the early 1800s. The farm raises Tarentaise heritage breed cattle on pasture and grows heirloom garlic, seasonal vegetables, herbs, and heritage corn, among other crops. Products are available through its online market and at the farm's Market Barn. LoganBerry also hosts farm tours by appointment, offering a behind-the-scenes look at its polyculture planting system and the Appalachian heritage foods it raises.
LoganBerry Heritage Farm describes its approach as growing foods naturally, biologically, ecologically, and sustainably. Its beef is 100% pastured, grass-fed, and grass-finished, raised with no feedlot confinement. Farming practices include composting, compost tea sprays, remineralization, crop rotation, cover-cropping, raised bed systems, and an on-site greenhouse. The farm practices seed-saving, with many seeds sourced from family heritage lines and grown without modification. It holds certification as a Pollinator Sanctuary and focuses on preserving Appalachian heritage farmland through natural methods.
