Oak Hollow Livestock

Oak Hollow Livestock uses management-intensive rotational grazing, moving animals frequently to new pasture sections to encourage uniform grazing, increase plant biodiversity, and reduce livestock exposure to internal parasites. Animal manure applied directly during grazing builds organic matter in the soil, supporting nutrient availability and drought resistance. The farm employs targeted browsing by goats to reduce invasive plant species and maintains pollinator habitat at the edges of its open fields. Browse from woody perennial shrubs supplements pasture nutrition, particularly during parasite-pressure peaks or drought periods. Maremma Sheepdogs serve as non-lethal livestock guardians. The farm is also working toward establishing silvopasture areas to improve forest health and contribute to carbon sequestration.
