The co-op defines local as products grown or produced in Louisiana or within 250 miles of New Orleans, and it works to build lasting relationships with those farmers and producers. It prioritizes sustainable agriculture, supporting farmers who focus on soil health and water quality while avoiding synthetic pesticides and herbicides, and it actively encourages producers to adopt organic or otherwise sustainable methods. The store stocks Fair Trade Certified chocolate and coffee when available. It also prioritizes products grown or produced by co-ops or other collective enterprises, reflecting the cooperative principle of cooperation among cooperatives. To reduce packaging waste, the co-op encourages bulk shopping and gives preference to products packaged in recycled, recyclable, compostable, or otherwise environmentally sound materials.
