Moxie Bread Co. builds its baking around 100% heirloom grain varieties that pre-date the industrialization of American agriculture in the 1960s and 1970s. All grains are organic and unprocessed, sourced directly from family farms across Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, Montana, North Dakota, and South Dakota. Grains are milled fresh on site, reducing reliance on processed flours. Every bread undergoes a long, slow fermentation process. As a founding member of the Colorado Grain Chain, the bakery actively supports farmers transitioning to regenerative agricultural practices. On the environmental side, Moxie runs composting initiatives, works to minimize food waste through production planning, and prioritizes recyclable and compostable materials for packaging, cutlery, cups, and napkins.
