Many Hands Organic Farm has been in existence since 1982 and has been selling to the public since 1985. The farm offers summer and fall CSA produce shares with pick-up locations across central Massachusetts, along with egg and flower share add-ons. Its farm store carries pasture-raised chicken, pork, lard, and turkey, as well as eggs, soup stocks, herbs and spices, tinctures, and body products such as salves and soap. CSA shares are SNAP and HIP eligible. Beyond food production, the farm operates the Many Hands Sustainability Center, which focuses on at-risk employment, education, food access, and land access. Many Hands Organic Farm has been certified organic since 1987, currently through Baystate Organic Certifiers, a USDA-accredited agency, and since 2018 through the Real Organic Program, which requires food to be grown in soil. The farm uses no tillage, having sold its tiller in 2014, and relies on cover crops, heavy mulches, wood chips, crop rotation, and natural rock powders and vegetable meals for fertility. Pasture management follows a mob stocking approach, and unheated hoop houses extend the growing season. The farm prioritizes keeping soil covered with living plants year-round, and emphasizes carbon-sequestering methods and photosynthesis maximization to support the underground soil system.
