Pasture-raised broilers and free-range eggs from a diversified farm in Worcester County.
Caledonia Farm is a diversified farm in the upland hills of Worcester County, Massachusetts, raising pasture-reared broiler chickens and free-range eggs. The farm is operated by David Petrovick, who brings a background in biology, chemistry, and animal and plant science to his work. Products are sold directly to customers by appointment at the farm, with no staffed storefront. Caledonia Farm also offers farm machinery services including welding, tune-ups for yard machines and lawn mowers, and vehicle undercoating. Learn more on their About Page.
Caledonia Farm raises its broilers and hens on fresh pasture and describes its approach as true free-range. The farm uses no antibiotics, growth promotants, or confinement. Animals are moved frequently to new pasture areas, allowing grass to recover and benefit from sun and rain. Individual cuts of chicken are vacuum sealed and flash frozen. The farm also pursues low-impact energy practices, including the use of waste vegetable oil as fuel for diesel equipment and farm-produced biodiesel, and is exploring the use of syn-gas from wood chips to power equipment.
