Small family farm raising grass-fed lamb, pastured pork, beef, and free-range poultry in the Colorado foothills.
Long Shadow Farm is a small, family-owned operation run by Kristin and Larry Ramey, started in the summer of 2007 with the goal of sustaining themselves off the land. The farm raises grass-fed lamb, pastured pork, grass-fed beef, and pastured poultry, including chicken, duck, turkey, and quail, as well as duck eggs. Meat is available as whole or half animals and as retail cuts, with an online shop and farm share program for regular customers. The farm also offers on-farm poultry processing services and Featherman equipment rental to fellow small-scale farmers. Farm visits are by appointment only.
Long Shadow Farm states it uses sustainable agriculture practices. Its birds are truly free range, with access to a six-acre pasture where they forage for grass and insects. Lambs are born and raised on the farm, are self-weaned, and remain with their mothers in the flock throughout their lives. Pigs are raised on pasture and supplemented with vegetables, raw milk, and eggs. Beef cattle are grass-fed and pastured, raised directly on the farm in limited numbers each year.
