U-pick fruit, vegetables, and kiwifruit on a small family farm in Butte County
Johnson Farm is a small family u-pick operation in Butte County, California, run by Mark Johnson. Visitors can pick their own strawberries, blueberries, cherries, blackberries, peaches, nectarines, apricots, plums, grapes, tomatoes, peppers, apples, almonds, kiwifruit, melons, and pumpkins across a long seasonal window. The farm is open two days a week during its seasonal run. Ice cream is available on-site, with flavors made from the farm's own fruit including strawberry, peach, and blueberry cheesecake. Kiwifruit is a particular specialty: Johnson Farm leaves fruit on the vine longer than larger local growers, and also sells kiwi by appointment after the regular season closes.
Mark Johnson holds a master's degree in organic weed control and the farm strives to grow its produce using sustainable farming methods. Johnson Farm asks visitors to bring reusable containers and encourages recycling of bags, baskets, boxes, and plastic containers on-site.
