Family-run cattle ranch selling grass-fed, grass-finished Angus and Akaushi Wagyu beef by the half or whole
M & A Ranch is a small, family-owned and operated cattle ranch established in 1980 in the Sierra Nevada foothills of Browns Valley, California. The ranch raises 100% free-range, all-natural Angus and Akaushi Wagyu beef, with every calf born and raised on the property. Records are kept on each animal from birth through harvest. The family has been raising Angus cattle for over 30 years on the same land and holds lifetime membership in the American Angus Association. Beef is sold as live weight by the half, with buyers arranging custom cut-and-wrap processing through a local butcher. On occasion, cow/calf pairs and heifers are also available for sale by private treaty. Learn more on their About Page.
M & A Ranch raises its herd on Sierra Nevada foothill native pastures and pesticide-free clover, rye, and grass hay, guaranteeing 100% grass-fed and grass-finished beef with no grain of any kind. The cattle range freely and are never confined in feedlots. The ranch never administers added hormones, growth stimulants, or antibiotics, and never applies pour-on or spray-on insecticides to its animals. GMOs are not used in the beef program. Each calf is raised from birth for 24 to 35 months before harvest. The herd incorporates New Zealand Angus genetics (sourced from Turihaua Station, founded in 1897) and Akaushi Wagyu genetics, both selected for forage efficiency and the ability to marble well on grass without grain supplementation. Pastures are naturally fertilized with cattle manure.
