Family-owned Kona coffee farm growing, roasting, and selling 100% Kona coffee on the Big Island.
Hala Tree is a family-owned coffee farm and roastery on the slopes of Kona, growing exclusively 100% Kona coffee on its own land in Captain Cook, Hawaii. Owners Jean and Danielle oversee the operation from orchard to cup, with a small crew handling every stage in-house. Coffee cherries are harvested by hand and roasted in small batches in Hawaii. The farm offers tours and hands-on experiences including orchard walks, roasting workshops, brewing classes, and cupping sessions. Hala Tree also operates a cafe on Oahu, where an award-winning pastry chef produces baked goods on-site. Roasted coffee ships directly from the farm, and a QR code on each bag traces the coffee back through harvest, processing, and roast. Learn more on their About Page.
Hala Tree grows all of its coffee on its own farm in Kona rather than sourcing from outside suppliers. Cherries are picked by hand, one by one, only when ripe. Roasting is done in small batches on the Big Island, close to the trees. Every bag carries a QR code that traces the coffee back through roast, processing, and harvest. Some trees on the farm are over a hundred years old, and the farm states they are tended carefully. Green (unroasted) beans are also available for purchase alongside finished roasts, cold brew, cascara tea, and mamaki tea.
