Grama Grass & Livestock

Grama Grass raises grass-finished, grain-free cattle using management intensive rotational grazing, moving the herd at least once per day within a property and approximately once per month among properties. This approach is designed to emulate the regenerative benefits of historic bison migration, allowing soil to recover during periods of rest between grazing. The farm actively promotes the growth of native Boulder County grass species, including blue grama, sideoats grama, big bluestem, and buffalo grass, while using grazing to reduce invasive species such as Canada thistle, bindweed, and cheatgrass. The rotational model is credited with sequestering carbon, building soil health, restoring native biodiversity, and mitigating wildfire risk. Grama Grass partners with local food pantries including Metro Caring and the Emergency Family Assistance Association to distribute beef to nutritionally underserved communities in Boulder County.
