Four-season specialty produce grower serving chefs, restaurants, and farmers markets.
Freedom Valley Farm is a four-season grower of naturally cultivated vegetables, fruits, and other produce, operating on five acres of the 234-acre Baughman Farm in Owen County. Brothers Jim and Joe Baughman founded the farm in April 2010. The farm grows more than 40 varieties of produce and specializes in mushrooms, micro-greens, spinach, lettuces, mixed greens, radishes, beets, and cucumbers, with warm-season crops including tomatoes, peppers, melons, and squash. It serves chefs, restaurants, and farmers markets across central Indiana, and also grows to order. Products are available through its online store, at farmers markets, and through wholesale accounts with area restaurants and grocery outlets.
Freedom Valley Farm does not use chemical fertilizers, herbicides, or pesticides, and follows organic growing practices. The farm uses moveable greenhouse units and low tunnels to extend the growing season across all four seasons. A 2,040-square-foot operations barn supports the farm with two walk-in refrigeration units, a climate-controlled room for mushroom production, and a vegetable cleaning and processing area. The property also includes a managed hardwood forest.
