Mavourneen Farm is a small, certified organic plant nursery and intensive year-round vegetable operation on family land in rural Monroe County. The farm has been growing vegetables just outside Bloomington for more than ten years. Its CSA program offers weekly or biweekly vegetable shares from August through November, with each share containing 7 to 10 items drawn from more than 35 crops, including leafy greens, herbs, alliums, summer fruits, and root vegetables. Members can pick up at the on-farm location or at the Bloomington Farm Stop Collective. SNAP/EBT and low-income share options are available. Mavourneen Farm also sells plants at the Bloomington Community Farmers' Market and the Bloomington Winter Farmers' Market, and offers ecological landscaping services.
Mavourneen Farm holds USDA Certified Organic and Real Organic Project certifications for its plants and produce. The farm describes its production ethics as rooted in preserving the Earth and appropriately valuing food and farmers. Vegetables are harvested and distributed at peak freshness, with most items intended to keep for 7 to 14 days or more under proper storage. The farm grows over 35 crops and many varieties within them, with seasonal availability shifting from summer fruiting crops in August and September to greens and storage crops such as carrots and potatoes in the fall.
