Six-generation Eastern Kentucky family farm growing heirloom produce and producing maple syrup, sorghum, and honey.
Forgotten Foods Farm is a small-scale family farm that has been in the Richardson family for six generations, operating on land that previously served as a sustenance, tobacco, and cattle farm. Channing and Amy Richardson revived the property to grow heirloom produce and produce small-batch pantry goods. The farm sells at the Farmers' Market in Morehead, KY, at the farm itself, and at the Maker's Markets at the Rowan County Arts Center. Its lineup includes heirloom tomatoes, pawpaws, shiitake and oyster mushrooms, beans, squash, beets, greens, and seasonal fruits. Processed goods include maple syrup, sorghum, honey, and seasonal jams and jellies. The farm also holds periodic workshops and events on-site. Learn more on their About Page.
Forgotten Foods Farm taps its own sugar maple trees, collects the sap, and boils it down on the farm; the property includes approximately 20 acres of sugar maples. The farm experiments with heirloom seeds and grows a rotating variety of vegetables and fruits, with availability varying by season. The Richardsons describe their aim as shaping the farm to grow food in a sustainable way.
