Registered Texas Longhorn cattle, Kiko goats, beef, goat meat, eggs, and honey from a historic Kentucky farm.
Calk Farm is a historic property in Mount Sterling, Kentucky, with land claimed in the 18th century and a farmhouse built in 1812. The farm raises registered Texas Longhorn cattle, registered KIKO goats, and commercial goats, and sells beef, goat meat, eggs, and honey. Texas Longhorns at Calk Farm trace back to a founding purchase in 2008 from the Wichita Mountain Refuge auction in Cache, Oklahoma. Since then, the herd has been selectively built to improve genetics for size, conformation, horns, temperament, and color. Visitors are welcome to the farm, and livestock, beef, and other products are available for purchase directly. Learn more on their About Page.
All livestock at Calk Farm are free-range and grass-fed, and receive no added growth hormones or antibiotics. Cattle graze in designated pasture year-round, with additional hay provisions. Goats likewise graze in designated pasture throughout the year. The Texas Longhorn herd is registered with the Texas Longhorn Breeders Association of America (TLBAA), which certifies each animal as 100% Texas Longhorn. KIKO goats are registered with the American Kiko Goat Association (AKGA). Calk Farm is a Kentucky Proud participant.
