Family-owned gourmet mushroom farm and farm store growing shiitake, oyster, and lion's mane varieties.
Ellijay Mushrooms is a family-owned sustainable mushroom farm founded in 2018 in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. The farm cultivates shiitake, blue oyster, golden oyster, king oyster, and lion's mane mushrooms across 171 acres of Georgia mountain land. Visitors can shop at the on-site farm store, take self-guided tours of the property, and pick flowers while available. Mushrooms are also sold through an online shop, wholesale to distributors across the Southeast, and to restaurants in the Atlanta area. The farm operates ten shiitake greenhouses and two oyster mushroom houses, with production continuing to expand. Learn more on their About Page.
Ellijay Mushrooms grows its shiitake mushrooms in double-layered greenhouses and its oyster mushrooms in refurbished 53-foot refrigerated trailers. The farm states that its growing and harvesting practices are aligned with its values of sustainability and land stewardship. After harvest, mushrooms are immediately refrigerated for freshness, then packaged, numbered, and prepared for delivery. All packaging is made with 100% recycled materials. The 171-acre property is shared with Buddhist monks and the farm emphasizes stewardship of the land. The business refers to its mushrooms as organic on its own pages.
