A faith-based CSA farm and apothecary herb shop growing non-GMO produce in the Georgia mountains.
Grateful Roots Gardens is a community-supported agriculture farm in the mountains of Talking Rock, Georgia, growing in-season produce without synthetic chemicals, pesticides, or herbicides. The farm store also houses an apothecary carrying 60 to 80 herbs on rotation, some grown on the farm and others sourced from growers around the world. Instead of a traditional CSA model requiring a full season payment upfront, Grateful Roots offers a market card that lets members choose specific products from what is available and pick up on a flexible schedule. The farm hosts classes, open houses, and a volunteer and work-share program. Herbalist consultations are available by appointment. The operation is guided by the owners' faith, and the farm observes biblical sabbath and appointed times. Learn more on their About Page.
Grateful Roots Gardens grows its produce without synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, or herbicides. To build soil health, the farm applies wood chip mulch, cover crops, leaf compost, and worm castings. Compost teas and fermented plant extracts are used in place of synthetic inputs to support a robust soil ecology. All produce and apothecary herbs offered by the farm are non-GMO. Apothecary herbs not grown on the farm are sourced from what the farm describes as ethically and responsibly grown suppliers. The farm grows what is in season, so offerings vary throughout the year.
