Working farm preserve with a seasonal market, pasture-raised livestock, vegetables, and farm-based education programs.
Coverdale Farm Preserve is a 380-acre working farm and nature preserve operated by the Delaware Nature Society in Greenville, Delaware. Of its acreage, 177 acres are farmed for vegetable and livestock production, while 200 acres are managed as a nature preserve. The Market at Coverdale Farm Preserve offers farm-grown produce, flowers, and specialty foods on a seasonal schedule from April through November. The farm also offers pasture-raised Thanksgiving turkeys available for pre-order each fall. Visitors can explore a 1.5-mile Farmstead and Pasture Trail, meet farm animals, and join seasonal programs for all ages, from hayrides to cooking classes and summer camps. Farm produce is also available at select local retail partners. Learn more on their About Page.
Coverdale Farm Preserve operates under a regenerative agriculture model aimed at restoring soil, supporting biodiversity, and protecting water quality. Mobile poultry houses rotate through pastures, giving hens access to fresh forage while naturally distributing nutrients across the land. Vegetables are grown using organic practices with minimal soil disturbance. Thanksgiving turkeys are pasture-raised, with access to open fields and a natural diet. The 200-acre nature preserve portion of the property supports meadows, forests, and streamside habitats as part of the broader land management approach.
