Cider Hill Farm is a 145-acre family farm that has been operated by the Cook family since 1978 and is now run by three generations. The farm offers pick-your-own strawberries, cherries, raspberries, blueberries, peaches, and apples, as well as cut-your-own flowers and tulips. Its farm store carries apple cider donuts, fresh-pressed sweet cider, jams, farm-grown vegetables, and farmhouse gifts. Cider Hill Cellars, the on-farm cidery founded by Chadd Cook, opened in 2017 and produces award-winning hard ciders using only estate-grown fruit, with 1,000 of the farm's 10,000 fruit trees dedicated specifically to hard cider production. Cider Hill Farm operates as a strict non-GMO farm, using no seeds or plant materials from GMO programs; many seeds are sourced from Johnny's Seeds in Maine. The farm follows strict Integrated Pest Management (IPM) principles, employing a University-trained IPM scout who traps insects across the property to inform spray decisions based on economic damage thresholds rather than routine application. The farm's own weather station is linked to Cornell University to predict pest life cycles from local weather data. Pest control materials are described by the farm as mostly produced through fermentation processes. Compost programs have been in place since 1978 with the stated goal of increasing soil organic matter and minimizing the need for fertilization. The farm maintains beehives on the property. For energy, an 840-panel solar system and wind turbines together self-generate nearly 70% of the electricity used by the farm and its five homes, supplemented by high-efficiency wood boilers.
