Fourth-generation apple orchard and farm market with pick-your-own fruit, a scratch bakery, creamery, and CSA.
Applecrest Farm Orchards is a fourth-generation, family-owned farm operated by the Wagner family. The farm grows over 40 varieties of apples alongside tree-ripened peaches, nectarines, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, sweet corn, and pumpkins, all available for pick-your-own or purchase at the Farm Market. The Farm Market is open year-round and carries hand-pressed apple cider, local honey and jams, glass-bottled milk, native maple syrup, cheddar cheese, and a selection of locally produced dairy, pasta, meat, and seafood. An on-site scratch bakery turns out pies, breads, crisps, biscuits, cookies, and old-fashioned cider donuts baked fresh. A seasonal creamery rounds out the on-farm offerings. Applecrest Farm Orchards describes its mission as sustainably growing fruit and vegetables while maintaining soil health for future generations. The farm plants cover crops to prevent erosion and keep soil nutrient-rich, and uses composted manure from neighboring farms to increase fertility and reduce reliance on artificial fertilizers. Heirloom variety selection supports seed-bank diversity and biodiversity. Hand weeding reduces herbicide use, and strategic crop rotation paired with companion planting timed to natural rhythms limits pest pressure without chemical inputs. The farm also pursues on-farm energy efficiency to minimize fossil fuel consumption. Applecrest was among the first farms in New Hampshire to adopt Integrated Pest Management (IPM), and continues to use natural predators and parasites, pest-resistant cultivars, and related techniques to reduce non-organic inputs.
