Broad Branch Farm is a small, family-run farm owned and operated by Brian and Anita Poeppel and their three daughters, Lucy, Susannah, and Laura. The farm raises pastured chickens for both meat and eggs, 100% grass-fed and grass-finished beef, pastured pigs, and a wide range of vegetables and salad greens. Laura tends a culinary herb garden, and the farm also carries Sitka Sustainable Seafood and pantry essentials sourced from trusted partners. Broad Branch Farm delivers year-round to the Peoria area and Naperville-western suburbs, with ground shipping available to Illinois zip codes. Broad Branch Farm's owned and rented pastures are Certified Organic by Global Organic Alliance. All feed, hay, and straw are Certified Organic, with no GMOs, pesticides, or industrial by-products in any livestock ration. Chickens are Freedom Ranger breed, raised on Certified Organic grain and pasture, with no antibiotics, growth hormones, or vaccines, and beaks never clipped. Beef calves are born and raised on the farm, fed 100% grass and grass-finished with no grain, antibiotics, or growth hormones, and finished over two or more years on pasture. Pigs are raised on Certified Organic pasture and grain, with no antibiotics, growth hormones, or nose-ringing. Vegetables are grown without pesticides or GMOs using National Organic Program-acceptable inputs. Beds are worked entirely by hand with no rototilling and kept covered with compost, mulch, or cover crops to support soil life. Laura's herbs are grown from Certified Organic plants and harvested pesticide-free.
