100% grass-fed, grass-finished beef from a multi-generational Ontario family farm.
Banbury Grasslands is a family farm producing 100% grass-fed beef on 80 acres west of Kitchener-Waterloo. The Banbury family has farmed in Ontario for six generations, and the operation works in conjunction with MIDA Shorthorns, the family's primary farm. Banbury Grasslands raises Shorthorn cattle conceived, born, and raised on the family's farms. Beef is processed at family-owned, government-inspected facilities and butchered by hand. Customers can order directly and join a mailing list to stay connected with the farm. Learn more on their About Page.
Banbury Grasslands feeds its cattle 100% forage: grass and legumes from pasture during the growing season, and stored forage during winter months. The animals are never fed grain, corn silage, or starch-based energy sources, and no animal by-products appear in the feed. The farm uses no antibiotics, hormones, growth implants, or steroids; any animal that receives an antibiotic injection is removed from the grass-fed program. Cattle are never confined to a feedlot and have access to pasture throughout their lives. The farm practices mob grazing, which it describes as encouraging soil-building grass growth, preventing erosion, and increasing organic matter in the soil. The genetic selection of the herd is used to achieve tenderness and flavour naturally, without grain finishing.
