A 2,250-acre third-generation farm offering farm-to-table dining, events, tours, and accommodations in Kentucky.
Ashbourne Farms is a 2,250-acre, third-generation farm in La Grange, Kentucky, with roots going back to 1937 when W.L. Lyons Brown and Sally Shallenberger Brown established the property. The entire farm is listed on the National Historic Register, and its restored farmhouse dates to the late 1800s. The farm operates a farm-to-table food program drawing on certified organic produce, antibiotic-free pasture-raised beef, pasture-raised pork, local eggs, and wild-foraged ingredients from the property. Beyond food, Ashbourne Farms hosts weddings, corporate events, and live music through its Showbarn Sessions series, offers on-site accommodations, and runs guided enrichment tours of the grounds. Learn more on their About Page.
Ashbourne Farms grows certified organic produce and raises antibiotic-free, pasture-raised beef, pasture-raised pork, and chickens for eggs on the property. Greenhouses and hoop houses on the farm supply the kitchen, and wild ingredients are foraged directly from the land. The farm maintains a strong conservation focus rooted in its history: 850 acres are held under a permanent conservation easement, over 100,000 trees have been planted, and 200 acres of native prairie grasses have been restored on formerly overgrazed land to support migratory birds and monarch butterflies. Ashbourne Farms partners with organizations including the NRCS, the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife, the American Farmland Trust, the Bluegrass Land Conservancy, the Kentucky Waterways Alliance, and The Nature Conservancy.
