Certified Naturally Grown produce farm selling at market and wholesale in northern Delaware.
Against the Grain Farm is a small sustainable farm in northern Delaware growing herbs, fruits, and vegetables using organic practices. Originally founded in 2011 as Bayberry Farm, it adopted its current name in 2015 and moved to Historic Penn Farm, managed by Delaware Greenways, in 2016. The farm has held Certified Naturally Grown status since 2014. It sells produce at the Newark Natural Foods Co-op Farmers Market on Sunday mornings from May through November, and supplies wholesale customers including local restaurants and food businesses. The farm also maintains a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program and welcomes visitors to take part in planting, transplanting, and other hands-on farm work. Learn more on their About Page.
Against the Grain Farm does not use petroleum-based insecticides or herbicides. Organic sprays are applied only when necessary, and crops are protected through beneficial insects and row covers. The farm uses cover crops for erosion control and soil amendment, and practices crop rotation to encourage plant diversity and reduce disease. Against the Grain Farm has been Certified Naturally Grown since 2014. It also collaborates with other local farms, orchards, and businesses to offer a broader range of fresh goods while supporting the surrounding small-business network.
