Three-generation Colorado farm raising goat cheese, organic pinto beans, and pastured chickens.
Yoder Family Farms is a three-generation family operation in Trinidad, Colorado, founded in 2010 by brothers Jeffery, Jeremy, and Michael Yoder. The farm has since grown to include the brothers' parents, Alvin and Anna, as well as Jeff's wife and four children. Its main products are all-natural goat cheeses made from raw milk and organic pinto beans, both available for purchase through a self-serve farm stand on the property and at local Colorado retailers. The goat cheese line continues the legacy of the neighboring Philpott Goat Dairy, which the Yoders acquired, and is offered in flavors including Original, Jalapeño, Red Chili, Pueblo Chili, Pueblo Chevre, Garlic & Basil, Herb de Provence, Honey, Olive Pimento, and a raw goat's milk ricotta. Yoder Family Farms describes its approach as farming naturally and sustainably, a philosophy Jeremy and Michael Yoder began developing in 2003 before the family relocated from Pennsylvania to Colorado. The farm mills its crops on-site and feeds them to its chickens. Alfalfa grown on the property is fed to the goats, and the resulting fertilizer is returned directly to the farmland. The goat cheeses are made from raw milk using an original Italian recipe carried over from the Philpott Goat Dairy. The farm's pinto beans are sold as certified organic.
