Wise Acre Farm is a first-generation family farm run by Tiffany and Jason, operating on 15 acres of leased pastureland in Windsor, California. The farm raises pasture-raised laying hens, slow-growing roasting chickens, stew hens, and produces grass-fed and finished beef, pork, and lamb. Beef cattle are raised on a separate 20-acre farm in Fulton with 24/7 pasture access, sourced from ranchers who meet the farm's animal husbandry standards. Customers can purchase meat directly at the farm's on-site Meat Market, and eggs are also available through the farm's online store. Tiffany purchased Wise Acre Farm from its founder and has run it as the full-time farmer since, handling everything from daily animal care to equipment repair.
Wise Acre Farm practices pasture rotation, moving its custom-built mobile chicken coops every two to four days, and more frequently during the wet season, to give hens continuous access to fresh grass, insects, seeds, and other forage. The farm does not till its pasture, an intentional practice to preserve soil carbon and organic matter. The farm describes its approach as regenerative agriculture. Laying hens are supplemented with a custom-formulated grain from Hunt & Behrens, a local feed mill based in Petaluma. Beef cattle are grass-fed and grass-finished, with 24/7 access to pasture. Roasting chickens are a slow-growing breed, distinct from standard commercial varieties.
