DaVero Farms and Winery

In 2008, DaVero took over a Westside Road property that had suffered decades of neglect and chemical farming, and set about restoring it through certified Organic and Biodynamic practices (Demeter Certified Biodynamic). The farm builds soil health through innovative composting, vermicomposting, and reduced tillage. Pigs on the property contribute to vegetation management and the composting cycle, with acorns gathered on-site used as feed. A large pollinator and edible garden supports biodiversity, and the farm partners with the Monarch Joint Venture to maintain butterfly habitats. Water management relies on on-site reservoirs and designed trenches that capture rainwater rather than letting it run off. Seasonal sprays and teas made from native plants and garden growth are used in place of synthetic chemicals to restore nutrients to the land.
