Family farm selling grass-fed and finished beef, pastured chickens, heritage pork, and lamb direct from the farm.
Wildfire Farms is a multi-generational family farm operation in Manitoba, selling grass-fed and finished beef, free-roaming chickens, heritage Berkshire and Tamworth pork, and lamb direct to customers. The farm is run in conjunction with Wild Fire Angus Ranch, founded by Guy and Léa Barnabé, whose family has worked the Saint-Jean-Baptiste land since the early 1900s. The direct-sales side is led by Meaghan Barnabé, who sells at the Marché St. Norbert Farmers' Market and delivers to selected locations in Winnipeg. Wildfire Farms also offers an online store where customers can browse and order meats. French-language service is available. Learn more on their About Page.
Wildfire Farms raises its Angus-crossed beef cattle on native grass pastures and forage legumes, including clover, alfalfa, trefoil, sainfoin, and millet, with no hormones, steroids, fertilizers, animal by-products, antibiotics, corn, or soy. Cattle are kept 28 to 36 months to finish, are moved from paddock to paddock via rotational grazing, and spend winter months on sheltered pastures fed baled native grass. Pastured chickens are raised outdoors from spring to fall on a farm-mixed grain feed of barley, field peas, wheat, oats, and minerals, and are free of drugs, hormones, and antibiotics. Heritage Berkshire and Tamworth pigs have free access to an outdoor pen and are fed a combination of barley, oats, field peas, kelp, and organic garden culls. Lamb are born in late spring and graze on pastures until fall.
